The Sonoma County Food Action Plan aggregates opportunities for growth in our local food system into four action areas, or pillars, with multiple goals and subgoals under each. We’re highlighting the pillars here in no particular order.

Pillar 2: Economic Vitality

• Support local food system jobs and commerce.
• Encourage institutional purchasing that supports the local food system.

“The building of these stores came from the community spending money with [Acre]. We’ve been solicited by investors, but once you do that you lose control and end up losing the local feel and the integrity of the products. Before you know it, you’ll have a whole grab-and-go case full of plastic bottles and stuff made somewhere else. We’ve funded the stores through our customers and their interactions with us.”
