My Taco Life: The Sketchbook Project arose from a crowd-sourced art exhibit out of the Brooklyn Art Library in New York. Each year, they send out blank sketchbooks that artists can fill however they’d like. They provide suggested themes but really, anything goes. After deciding to take on the sketchbook challenge, Michelle Marques of Santa Rosa chose “Tacos,” quickly realizing that she had a lot of personal stories related to the subject. Plus, there were important Sonoma County taco stories to share. My Taco Life has been sent to the Brooklyn Art Library to be catalogued and added to the growing collection from all over the world. Michelle’s book will join other sketchbooks for a summer pop-up tour to Toronto, Chicago, and Atlanta before heading back to its permanent home in New York, where anyone can come to read about this little section of Sonoma County taco lore. sketchbookproject.com
