Panoramic Preserve

Enjoy the 5-mile stretch of trails available in the new

Estero Americano Coast Preserve.

New public spaces should always be celebrated. The Estero Americano Coast Preserve is a new and significant 547-acre conservation area near Bodega Bay that is now open to the public. It protects a critical stretch of coastal landscape, encompassing coastal prairie, grasslands, and blufftop terraces that overlook the Pacific Ocean and the mouth of the impressive Estero Americano estuary. The estuary is home to numerous species, including the Central California Coast steelhead, tidewater goby, and California red-legged frog.

Now open with approximately five miles of hiking trails, the preserve features panoramic views and access to the beach and a kayak pull-out along the estuary.

The property, historically known as the Bottarini Ranch, was purchased in 2015 by The Wildlands Conservancy (TWC), a nonprofit land conservancy. TWC is dedicated to preserving the beauty and biodiversity of the earth and providing free public access and outdoor education. By developing facilities like trails, signage, and restrooms, TWC has transformed a formerly private ranch into a valuable coastal recreation and education resource, connecting people with this beautiful and ecologically rich part of the Sonoma Coast.

Free Admission: Fri–Sun  |  8am-5pm
